The National Maternity Hospital (NMH) has updated the info for moms after birth.

Guidelines for partners and nominated individuals after the birth of a baby have been updated by the National Maternity Hospital (NMH). The experience of giving birth to a baby during Covid-19 has been very different and at times very lonely. However since restrictions are easing throughout Ireland in the current phase, so are the restrictions in the NMH.

It is still not what a new mom would want while in the hospital. Overall the person visiting can only be there for a maximum of “up to two consecutive hours” per day. No kids can visit, they must wear PPE and social distance while there. Check out all the current advice here.

We understand it’s to protect both mother and baby. Yet we also can empathise with those feeling the frustration of the restrictions. The guidelines will be reviewed regularly. Hopefully if more people abide by the rules, the restrictions can continually be eased over time.

With the restrictions easing, cervical cancer screenings are also going to be starting again. Read about it here.
