If you are an 80’s kid you are in for a treat! You can now introduce your kids to the wonders of Wanderly Wagon.

Wanderly Wagon is returning home for the Monkstown International Puppet Festival, which will take place on 21st September.

The event will take place in the Dublin suburb of Monkstown, which happens to be the spiritual home of Irish puppetry where the Lambert Puppet Theatre gave life to Ireland’s most beloved icons like Mr. Crow and Judge.

“Puppetry offers all ages and families opportunities to engage, from formal talks to workshops, family shows and late evening acts,” said Roger Duggan, Festival Director.

“Monkstown has a heritage of puppetry and is synonymous in people’s minds with puppetry. There is strong community buy-in for the project, with venues, community groups and the public offering strong support from the outset.”

Other events

Other notable highlights from the festival include a performance from new puppet improvisation group ‘Fur City’

IADT’s Animism will deliver a haunting retelling of the Irish legend of the Banshee with their production ‘Bronagh agus an Bean Sidhe’.

Of course, no puppet festival would be complete without a traditional Punch and Judy show

Tickets and the line-up is available here.

Lots more to be announced over the coming weeks.
