This spring, The Ark and CoisCéim Dance Theatre had planned to jointly run dance workshops for children, but the Covid-19 restrictions meant they had to be cancelled. But that doesn’t stop our urge to get up and dance wherever we may be.
Now, The Ark and CoisCéim Broadreach are inviting children to take part in interactive online dance workshops entitled Dance Your Own Dance. On Wednesday 22 April at 11am & 12.30pm, children aged 5-8 can join choreographer Philippa Donnellan to participate in a colourful, themed dance story workshop at home. These workshops will be run through Zoom.
This latest fun physical adventure is based on CoisCéim’s production of The Wolf & Peter by David Bolger. Join Philippa and other children online to explore how Peter dances as he goes into the forest, do a quick change to become the scary Wolf (who is a super cool Street Dancer!) – and find out what actually happened to the Duck!
Next, stay tuned for news of a special online dance event on Wednesday 29 April, which will encourage children aged 8+ and their families to get up and dance at home to celebrate International Dance Day.
This initiative is presented by The Ark and CoisCéim Broadreach and is part of The Ark @ Home, which gives children regular opportunities to explore and discover the arts in their own homes over the next few weeks.
The Ark is delighted, in this way, to continue offering children exciting creative opportunities across the arts, and to celebrate the work of the artists they have worked with, commissioned and continue to support through these very challenging times.
