#Movementsmatter now more than ever… Routine in the Womb is back for 2020. National Initiative Urges Mums-to-be to Connect with their Unborn Babies.

Returning for its fourth year this June, the Routine in the Womb campaign from natural parenting experts
Babyopathy is once again encouraging pregnant women to take time to monitor baby’s movements in the womb,
and the benefits this can have.

Running throughout June, this thought-provoking movement aims to educate expectant mums on the importance of
being mindful about their unborn baby’s routine in the womb. Having supported thousands of women since its
inception, this year’s campaign is aiming to support more expectant mums than ever.

Created by Angela Spencer, an award-winning author and parenting expert of more than 25 years, this year, the
campaign centres around the clear message that #movementsmatter.

The 2020 national initiative is urging expectant mums to put their feet up and spend some time every day to truly
focus on their baby’s movements in the womb. Learning baby’s unique routine in the womb and being able to
identify changes, can help to detect any potential problems.

Angela, the brains behind this campaign says: “It’s not just reduced movement mums should look out for, but sudden excessive movement too, as this could mean the baby is in distress.”

She continued: “In these current times, expectant women may be feeling more stress now than ever before.
Following recent statistics that there has been a drastic increase in mental health concerns in the under 5’s, and the
link between stress in pregnancy and these conditions.”

“I truly believe we need to focus more on supporting women to maintain a stress free pregnancy, it’s not just a nice
thing for them to do – it is essential for the well being of them and their baby.”

As part of the upcoming national awareness month, Angela is campaigning to Downing Street that the below should be every woman’s right to be informed about during their pregnancy:

  • To be clearly informed of how to recognise their baby’s Routine in the Womb to ensure they can be aware if
    their pregnancy is progressing positively.
  • To be informed routinely about the dangers of excess Stress During Pregnancy and ways to reduce it to help
    them make more informed choices.
  • Paid Maternity Leave from at least 6 weeks prior to their due date to help to reduce the impacts of Stress
During Pregnancy, and in turn reduce some of the devastating trends of premature and emergency births
    and sadly even neonatal death.
  • Paid Maternity Leave for at least the first year of their baby’s life that would not only support reducing the trend of post-natal depression but also support the mental health well being of babies.

Angela believes passionately that it’s time that pregnancy, birth and parenting were viewed positively again, and
that she will do everything possible to reduce the devastating statistics resulting from undue stress during
pregnancy, and mum’s not being aware of the importance of knowing their baby’s Routine in the Womb.
Babyopathy’s new ‘Stress during Pregnancy’ course will be available free of charge throughout June for women who
are looking to recognise their symptoms of stress and ways to relax and de-stress.
