Crayola, the most well known crayon brand, have launched ‘Colours of the World’. A collection including 24 brand new crayons that accurately represent the variety of skin tones one might have.

The aim is to encourage more inclusivity among children across the world. The crayons represent more than 40 global skin tones and now everyone will be able to acculturate colour themselves.
Some questioned if this launch was new saying on twitter “Wait this isn’t new is it? I could’ve sworn I had this exact thing in the mid 90s”. However Crayola commented back saying “We first launched our Multicultural collection in 1992. The new Colors of the World crayons include 24 newly formulated crayon colors representing more than 40 global skin tones”.
Other commended Crayola for having more shade variations than most beauty brands. There is definitely huge room to improve for a lot of brands when it comes to foundation shades. We think the beauty industry should be taking a note from Crayolas book!
In order to get the skin tones accurate for each crayon they actually teamed up with Victor Casale, the co founder and CEO of MOB Beauty. He was also the chief chemist for MAC and the co founder and chief innovation officer for Cover FX.

Each shade has it’s own name and the colours span from extra light almond all the way to deepest almond. They cover all the different skin undertones like almond, golden and rose.
