Children’s Rally

Today (Friday 14th June), children right across Ireland have been invited to be part of a special Children’s Rally where young people can express their thoughts, concerns and hopes for the future.

Children will gather for a special rally, later this morning at 11am in Meeting House Square, in Dublin city.

‘This is a chance for children’s voices to be clearly heard,’ the arts center highlighted in a statement.

‘Children will be given the chance to stand up and say what is on their mind’, the group added.

Over the past few weeks, The Ark has been working with a number of schools in a series of creative workshops and a school’s pack was made available to help anyone who would like to prepare for the rally.

Children also took part in a rights workshops with the Office of the Ombudsman for Children.

They have been making banners, writing a special rallying call song and deciding what issues they would like to highlight later today.

The Ark’s Festival of Children which started yesterday and will run until the 16 June to coincide with Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s national day of creativity for children and young people.

A special weekend of art, theatre, dance, games and film, designed by children, for children awaits and all events will be free.

Children have played a vital role at every stage of its development and the Ark said that from the very beginning children advised on what the festival should be called, what events should be included and an open design call gave children the chance to design the artwork for the festival.
