Autumn & Halloween Crafts

If you’re looking for something to do on these cold days, how about making some autumn & Halloween inspired crafts.

This is our favourite time of the year with all the colours and shapes. We know it can be a hard time of year for many, because of the darker evenings, but there is so much beauty in this season that we should be making the most of it.

Here are some fun easy autumn & Halloween crafts to do at home.

Leaf Decoration

Cut out different shape leaves from cardboard and wrap them in different coloured wool. Tie them onto a stick using the end of the wool and then hang them around the house! You can also paint the cut outs if you don’t have any wool. You could incorporate real leaves in these crafts by painting them, or making the family out of them!

Paper pumpkins

If you want to add a bit of fall to your house without going out and buying actual pumpkins this is a great alternative. Head over to It’s Always Autumn for a full list of supplies and method.

Ghost Treasure Hunt

Get the kids to draw and cut ghosts out of paper. When they are all done you can use a wax candle to write a clue on the ghosts. Each time the kids find one, all they have to do it paint over it with water colour to reveal the clue!

Halloween Sensory Bin

Sensory bins are great for younger kids to interact with an activity in every way. They are super engaging and you can incorporate so much into them.

Haunted House

If you have any leftover cardboard boxes this is a great craft. Turn those boxes into a fun Halloween haunted house. Add bats, pumpkins and a few fake spider webs!

Toilet Roll Figures

This is something we have lots of hanging around the house! The kids can make any character out of the toilet rolls and they can be Halloween themed!

Spider Webs

These are very simple to make and a great decoration for around the house. All you need are popsicle sticks, string, paint and glue! Glue the sticks together and then paint them in your chosen colours. Once the paint is dry, use the string, tie it to one of the sticks and start wrapping it around the other sticks like a web. When you are finished you can add a few fake spiders to make it a little more spooky.

Tissue Paper Squirrel

Cut out a squirrel from a piece of paper and then stick the piece with the cut out to a piece of tracing paper. Stick it to the window and let your child stick different coloured pieces of tissue paper to it.

Pinecone Hedgehogs

When you are out picking up leaves an sticks, collect a few pinecones as well. You can paint over them with some glitter or metallic paint. To make the face you can make it out of felt, playdough or modelling clay with some googly eyes! You can also make hedgehogs out of paper plates and brown paper, if you don’t want to collect nature!

Scarecrow Jars

Grab an old mason jar or pick up a cheap one, some paint, hay, googly eyes, ribbon or bandana, glue and paper. Paint the jar, draw on a mouth, add googly eyes and stick on the hay and ribbon. For an extra pop of colour add a fake sunflower you bought or make it from yellow tissue paper.
