Three quarters of parents (75%) claim to use products every day to help alleviate skin condition symptoms for their child, research shows.
The study conducted by Aveeno Baby ahead of Eczema Awareness Week (15th – 22nd September 2019) indicated that eight in 10 parents of children with eczema visit a healthcare professional (HCP) at least once a year to get eczema related advice, with almost 1 in 5 (18%) visiting a HCP once every 1 to 3 months.
According to the research, 61% of respondents claim that their child’s dry or irritated skin would flare up at least once a week, with 11% claiming that their child’s flare up can last up to five to seven days.
“Skin conditions such as dry and irritated skin, sensitive skin and eczema can be a stressful experience for parents and children,” highlighted Paula Moriarty, Children’s Nurse and Professional Skincare Consultant for Aveeno Baby.
“However, it is great to see that two thirds (67%) of parents we surveyed who have children with eczema are aware of the benefits of using topical emollients and we know that parents who have children with skin conditions are well-informed, with 65% stating they can differentiate between eczema and the likes of dry or irritated skin.”
