A new campaign aims to promote the importance of mental health throughout pregnancy and beyond.

Launched this June, the inspired campaign from natural parenting expert and founder of Babyopathy, Angela Spencer, encourages mums-to-be to put their #feetupfor30, perfectly timed to promote the importance of knowing your baby’s routine in the womb.

The initiative aims to change the current trend of negativity in pregnancy, birth and beyond, by empowering women to recognise the signals their baby is giving them and make inspired choices for both mother and baby’s wellbeing.

#feetupfor30 encourages mums-to-be to take just 30 minutes every day to sit down, which helps to promote their self-care and relaxation, and gives them time to connect with their unborn child’s unique pattern of movement, wellbeing and development.

Need a nudge on how to get started? Here are Angela’s top tips for mindfulness in pregnancy

Put your feet up for 30 minutes

We live such stressful lives now that we forget to take some time to rest and nest but taking the time to relax is vital in combating the effects of stress during pregnancy. Everyone can find 30mins, even in your lunch break, so put your feet up and relax!

Bond with baby

Taking the time to put your feet up also gives you some ‘you’ time with your baby!

Talk to them, stroke your belly and let the love flow! So many mums struggle to bond with their baby after the birth because they didn’t take the time to get to know them in the womb.

Feed the senses

By using sensory tools, such as essential oils and music, you can enhance the benefits of your relaxation! Plus, the more frequently you practice mindfulness, the easier you will find it to slip into a wonderful relaxed state – even if it’s just for 30 minutes!

Relaxed Mum, contented baby

Did you know your baby’s routine as a newborn also begins in the womb?

By doing all of the above, especially in the evening before bed, you will help to set a familiar routine that you can continue after baby arrives!

Most importantly, the more relaxed you are as a mum, the more likely you will have a contented baby!

Routine in the Womb

The above tips help you to understand your baby’s unique pattern of movements and rest in the womb, which means you can relax in the knowledge everything is progressing well.

It also means that you can recognise when something changes and seek advice when necessary!
